Africans Claiming
Africa for Christ Conference 2008
Badagry,
Nigeria – What a blessing it is when Christians from
many African nations gather to praise God, discuss
the growth of His kingdom and encourage one another
in the faith! The Africans Claiming Africa for
Christ Conference began in Kenya in 1992. Since
then, it has been held in Zimbabwe (1997), South
Africa (2000), Ghana (2004), and this year, in
Nigeria.
The
organizers in Nigeria did an excellent job choosing
the location and planning the programme. Dr. Peter
Egure led a crew of outstanding Nigerian volunteers
who did their best to attend to all of the
participants’ needs.
The
conference brochure states,
ACAC provides a forum for
cross-cultural interaction at a wider circle
among Christians from other parts of Africa. It
affords the participants an opportunity to know
the activities and impact of the church in other
African countries. It also reveals areas in the
continent where the church is not in existence
and strategies are put in place to effectively
reach these areas with the saving grace of
Christ.
These goals are very much in line with the purpose
of the AfricanPathways website and the Africa
Service of World Christian Broadcasting. We want to
continue the spirit of the ACAC conference. We hope that our friends
who have access to the web will consider AfricanPathways their forum for sharing the positive
impact of successful activities. Today you can
browse our
ACAC photo
gallery and make comments that may be
shared with other website visitors. As we expand
our website, you will be given other opportunities
to interact with others.
But
our greatest purpose is to reach those who do not
know Christ or who have become confused and
disillusioned by the competing claims of various
religious groups. We, too, want to help reach all
areas of the African continent with the saving
gospel of Christ. We will do this through this
website and through shortwave broadcasts once our
powerful station, capable of reaching the entire
continent, is constructed.
While at the ACAC Conference, we conducted a survey
of participants. Approximately a third of attendees
filled a form. Click here
for survey results.
Dr.
Gayle Crowe, Vice President of WCB Programming, and
I thoroughly enjoyed the ACAC Conference. It was
delightful to meet all who stopped to chat with us
at the World Christian Broadcasting display. We
appreciate the positive response we received when we
announced plans for our radio programmes to be
broadcast all over Africa in the near future.
Well before the next ACAC (Zambia, 2012), if the
Lord wills, Africa will enjoy daily one-hour
programmes designed by World Christian Broadcasting
to entertain and to lead the lost to Christ. Please
pray for our success as we pray for God to abide in
and work through you.
